Tri Dosha

Tridoshas is a term used in Ayurveda to describe the three energy types or doshas believed to exist in each individual. These are Vata Pitta and Kapha. According to Ayurvedic theory, these three doshas are responsible for various mind and body functions. An imbalance in one or more doshas may lead to illness.

Here is a short overview of each Tridoshas:

1. Vata: Vata governs the body's movement and is related to the elements air and ether. It is responsible, among other things, for breathing, circulation and elimination. Vata, when in balance, promotes flexibility, creativity, and vitality. Excess Vata, however, can cause anxiety, insomnia and digestive problems.

2. Pitta governs metabolism. Pitta is associated with fire and water. It is responsible, among other things, for digestion, metabolism and body temperature. Pitta, when in balance, promotes intelligence and courage. Pitta in excess can cause anger, skin rashes and digestive problems.

3. Kapha: Kapha governs structure and is associated with earth and water. It is responsible, among other things, for the lubrication and immunity of joints. When Kapha is balanced, it promotes patience, compassion and stability. An excess of Kapha, however, can cause weight gain, respiratory problems, and lethargy.
